Rows 10 – 15 form the 6 row pattern repeat. Repeat for a total of 88 rows, ending after a row 10. Fasten off and sew in your ends.

Note: To adjust size, repeat rows 10 – 15 as many times as you like. I stopped at 88 rows to ensure I had some yarn left for tassels. If you are omitting the tassels, then continue working in pattern until you yarn runs out.

Wet blocking is essential when using merino wool yarn, you can see by the measurements before and after blocking at the beginning of the pattern just how much it will grow during the blocking process, also blocking will open up the lace pattern and give the fabric a beautiful drape. Well worth doing. Note: wet blocking is not recommended for acyrilic yarn, simply wash as per the guidance on the ball band.

A guide to wet blocking:

• Soak your project for a few minutes in luke warm water.

• Gently squeeze excess moisure by hand, be very careful not to stretch and distort your shawl, do not wring or twist it at all.

• Place the wet shawl onto a towel, roll the towel up into a swiss roll shape. Then press down firmly so the towel soaks up the excess water.

• Unroll the towel and place the damp shawl onto a clean dry towel, or a carpet or blocking mats (I use some childrens foam floor jigsaw pieces)

• Use your hands to smooth out and gently stretch the shawl to the size stated, then use pins to hold it in place. You can also use block pins and blocking wires too if you have them.

• Leave your project in place until completley bone dry before unpinning. Usually at least 24 hours.

Add tassels to each of the three corners and enjoy your work
